Freemasonry:
A Path to a Better Life.

An opportunity to become a better man — for yourself, your family, and your community. Nebraska Masons have answered this call since 1857.

What is Freemasonry?

Masonry is the world's oldest fraternity of gentlemen, founded on the code of ethics of the stonemasons who built many of the great cathedrals and buildings of the Medieval period. Through the symbolic portrayal of their principles and tools, we instill in modern men a moral code supporting the highest standards of conduct.

While our primary focus is on improving the lives of individual brothers, we also believe in extending charity to the needy and providing service to our communities. Beginning over 300 years ago in Scotland and England, Freemasonry has spread across the world offering good men a way to improve themselves, learn from other good men, and improve the world around them.

Masonry is not a religion but complements a man's religious beliefs with lessons that are timeless and applicable to all ages.

The Three Craft Degrees

Freemasonry is transmitted from age to age through the performance of the three Craft degrees. These degrees teach the candidate about the symbols and tenets of Freemasonry in solemn ceremonies that have survived the centuries — and will give the Mason a lifetime of knowledge to study and apply to his life.

  • 1
Entered Apprentice The first step — an introduction to the fraternity, its symbols, and the principles of brotherhood.
  • 2
Fellowcraft A deeper exploration of Masonic knowledge, wisdom, and the importance of education and learning.
  • 3
Master Mason The highest degree of the Blue Lodge — full membership in the ancient fraternity of Freemasons.

Who Are the Freemasons?

Members of Masonic Lodges can be found in every free country on earth. We represent a variety of cultures, religious beliefs, and professions. And yet, we meet in peace, harmony, and friendship. This is possible because of the respect we hold for the opinions of our fellow men.

"Men don't need the same last name to be brothers."

What Do We Believe?

The values of Freemasonry are based on integrity, kindness, honesty, and fairness. Freemasons are taught to practice charity and to care not only for their own, but also for the community as a whole through charitable giving and volunteer efforts. We gather together to help each other become better men and to forge a better world.

"It takes a big man to believe in something bigger than himself."

What is a Lodge?

A Masonic lodge is more than a building; it is a living, breathing organization made up of and sustained by the members themselves. It is a tight-knit group of men who make solemn vows to one another and become comrades in Masonry and life. A unique aspect of lodge life is the coming together of generations and differing backgrounds.

Through a series of ceremonies, the values of Freemasonry are passed from Mason to Mason, in a timeless and tireless effort to make good men better. These ceremonies provide a framework that affects every aspect of modern life and are based on the values of brotherly love, relief, and truth.

Men Putting Ethics Into Action

Throughout time, good men have sought a method and philosophy to improve themselves as men, fathers, husbands, and citizens of their country and communities. Freemasonry can provide those tools.
